NADAA welcomes the participation of volunteers and organizations in a number of ways. Review these options and choose what works best for you!

NADAA coaltion member: Membership meetings are held on the third Wednesday of every month at noon. The meeting location alternates between Auburn High School and Johnson-Brock High School. Everyone interested in being a part of NADAA's activities and efforts is welcome to attend these meetings. Some individuals cannot attend meetings in the middle of a business day. Those people can still by a NADAA member by simply contacting coordinator Laura Osborne to discuss options, which include the subcommittees listed below.

NADAA Task Forces

YADA (Youth Against Drugs and Alcohol) - This subcommittee is specifically youth in our county. Currently, there ar YADA groups in both of our school districts for grades 7-12. The youth work together to plan strategies and put them into action. For more information, please contact the youth coordinator Kayleigh Whisler at 274-7784.

Safe Homes Program - The Safe Homes Program is a network of parents across Nemaha County who pledge that their homes are going to be safe places for youth that are free of illegal drugs and where alcohol is not acessible to or provided to those who are under age 21. More information is available by calling the NADAA coordinator at 402.274.9485.

FAN (Families Assisting NADAA) - This subcommittee focuses on developing strategies to combat underage drinking. The group meets in the evenings on a monthly basis. Interested individuals can call the NADAA coordinator at 402.274.9485.

ABC (Anti-Bullying Committee) - The ABC group works to find ways to prevent bullying among our county's youth. The volunteers work together with school officials from both District 23 and District 29 as well as behavioral specialists in their work. Susan Kruse heads up this subcommittee and she can be reached at 274-3803.

After School Programs Committee - Volunteers and school officials working together in an effort to build an after school program for our county's youth in both school districts. If you'd like to help make this vision a reality, please contact the committee chair - Susan Kruse.

Red Ribbon Week Family Festival Planning - This group meets a few months out of the year for the sole purpose of planning one our biggest events - the Red Ribbon Week Family Festival which is held at the end of October. Contact Diane Peterson if you'd like to help plan a family-fun, drug and alcohol-free event for elementary students and their families.

PSC Strategies Committee - Underage drinking is a complex issue on college campuses today. Help us as we work to identify effective strategies and then make them a reality.
