Why NADAA?

Some statistics

Here in Nemaha County, our youth have drank at a higher rate than the average of their peers across Nebraska. Among 8th, 10th, and 12th graders, 45.6%, 70.5%, and 75.3% admitted to having more than just few sips of alcohol versus the 37.2%, 59.9%, and 73.7% average, respectively. Click to see more survey results. A student survey was given in the fall of 2007. Click here to see those results.

In 2007, NADAA conducted separate surveys of parents and students. They showed among 12th graders, the percentage of students who perceive their parents disapprove of alcohol usage by students was only 69.2%, 82.5% for 10th graders, 92% for 8th graders, and 95% for 7th graders. The parent surveys showed that 87% of parents categorize local alcohol use by teens as either a moderate or severe problem. While 99% of those parents believe that it is not acceptable for parents to provide teens with alcohol, 63% also believed that other parents within the school were providing alcohol to teens.

We posted some photos of the Winter Banquet 2008 as well as information about our guest speaker, Sally Zellers. Sally shared some interesting slides with the group.
